Best kept secret in town! While backing up, with my foot off the brake, my car one day started squeaking. And with each passing day, the sound was getting worse. I brought the car in to Honest-1 in Bloomington. They discovered the front brake pads were worn away and the pad carrier was now digging into the rotor. I just had the car in for a normal maintenance inspection, and my (now) former shop failed to catch it, and that was only 1300 miles ago. Now I got to pay twice the price of a pad-only replacement - a little over $400 for both front wheels on my Subaru Forester SUV. While my brakes were being worked on, I asked the front desk attendant if there was a way I could avoid this situation going forward. That is, if I paid them to check all the systems, could they catch something needing replacement, so I could pay less than getting every penny out of a system and possibly incurring heavier repair costs? They replied they already do that! They gave me a copy of their inspection list - a free service with every appointment. I looked down the list. Now it was time to be impressed! Quite thorough. And records are kept, so they can track everything going forward. They already know my life is busy and I might not keep as close a track as I should on the various vehicle systems, component lifetimes and wear. They assume their role as best source for advice and keep track of these things for me. In exchange, I get first rate reliability and explanations that make sense. Their patient explanations help me be more informed. A more informed customer is a happy one, and happy customers eagerly spread the word of what a great deal this place actually is, as I'm doing here. This shop takes their name seriously! "Honest-1. Hmm... so rare!" I thought, "Lucky I found them!" And in the same place as the former Z-Tech. The tradition of excellent customer service, and saving the customer money for unneeded repairs, continues, though the new owner did not personally know the original owner. What's the chance of that?? It's certainly a win for me! Thanks Honest-1.
